Christmas in Port Colborne

Remember Christmas?

Remember when Christmas was a time of wonder? When you braved the cold between the shops with an armload of "perfect gifts"? Bumping into folks you hadn't seen forever.... being good, for goodness sake? The City of Port Colborne wishes to invite you 'round for Christmas this year, because as much as Christmas has changed in other places, things are much the same here as they were back in the good old days....

Christmas in Port Colborne

We look forward to having you join us

Children's Christmas Card Contest

HELP DESIGN OUR COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CARD

It is with great pride, on behalf of the City of Port Colborne, we are inviting the children of our community to help us with the design of our 2020 Christmas card.

Christmas is a time of family and friends. It brings many wonderful memories. It's most appropriate that our children be a part of creating those memories which can be passed on to future generations.

The theme is “Christmas in Port Colborne.”

Submissions should be made on a white sheet of paper, 8 ½” X 11”, either vertical or horizontal, using any number of colours. Deep, dark colours produce a better illustration. I encourage you to draw an image that conveys the Christmas spirit with special focus on a Port Colborne person, place or thing.

The contest is open to all children who live or go to school in Port Colborne, up to and including those in grade 8.

All submissions must be received at the Mayor’s Office at City Hall, 66 Charlotte Street, Port Colborne, ON L3K 3G8 by Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 4 p.m.

Please print your name, address and telephone number on the back of the picture.

For further information, contact Nancy Giles at 905-835-2900, Ext. 301 or nancygiles@portcolborne.ca.

Tugboat Santa

Last year, on Saturday, December 7, 2019, the Downtown BIA welcomed Santa to Port Colborne.  He arrived by tugboat at approximately 1 p.m. near West Street and Charlotte Street.  Santa made his way down Charlotte Street to the Guild Hall where there were free arts and crafts, free hot chocolate and cookies, and the chance to have your picture taken with Santa. It was great fun for the whole family.
