HR Clerk

The City of Port Colborne is seeking an energetic and motivated professional with superior administrative, analytical, interpersonal, communication and conflict resolution skills who works well in a fast-paced environment and can help drive the corporation forward by supporting the Human Resources Department in achieving the goals and strategic direction set by Council. 

 

Reporting to the Human Resources Coordinator, you will be responsible for the administration of payroll, benefits, pension, recruitment, HRIS, training and labour relations in accordance with established policies, practices and legislation. You will have a customer service-oriented approach and provide tools, processes, and resources to ensure corporate and legislative compliance.

 

You are a payroll or human resources professional, preferably in a municipality with three years of progressive experience, with computer proficiency in Microsoft programs and HRIS systems.  You have a degree in Business Administration and/or related education and working knowledge of current applicable legislation.  Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation is an asset.    

 

Salary range: $59,293 - $66,719 ($32.58 - $36.66 per hour) plus a competitive benefits and pension package.

Camp Leader - Active Camps

The City of Port Colborne is hiring a Camp Leader position for all Active Camps programming. Active Camps are specialized programs that focus on increasing physical literacy through sport and recreational activities for children & youth (4-13 yrs.). Active Camps programs are currently offered as full day P.A day programs, March break camp, and summer day camps. Active Camps staff lead campers in developmentally appropriate activities that teach fundamental movement skills, and develop physical literacy through active games and recreational sports in a child-centred, inclusive environment.

 

Camp Leaders will assist in the planning and implementing all weekly themed program plans, provide assistance to the Camp Supervisor in leading daily program activities and program feedback, direct delivery of active camps programming at all camp locations, supervise and adhere to child protection policy for all participants, assist in administration related to the camp and provide daily feedback and communication to parents and Recreation Coordinator. 

 

The preferred candidate will have a degree in recreation & leisure studies, physical education, kinesiology or related field and three years in a recreation program or day camp setting, knowledge of Canadian Sport for Life-Long Term Development Plan, physical literacy program delivery and/or planning.

At a minimum, the successful candidate will be enrolled in a program listed above and one-year recreation programming or day camp experience.   

 

This position is ongoing through seasonal programming with a pay rate of $15.30 per hour.  Please quote 2020-03 when applying.

The Camp Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing and executing all seasonal summer day camp operations for Active Camps, which will include the planning, coordinating and implementing all weekly themed program plans.  You will provide supervision to two (2) Camp Leaders, direct delivery of Active Camps programming at all camp locations, supervise and adhere to child protection policy for all participants, oversee administration related to the camp and provide daily feedback and communication to parents and Recreation Coordinator. 

 

The preferred candidate will have a degree in recreation & leisure studies, physical education, kinesiology or related field and three years supervisory experience in recreation program or day camp setting, knowledge of Canadian Sport for Life-Long Term Development Plan, physical literacy program delivery and/or planning.  At a minimum, the successful candidate will be enrolled in a program listed above and have one-year supervisory experience.

Seasonal Beach Coordinator, Nickel Beach

The City of Port Colborne operates the public beach known as Nickel Beach and has a full time seasonal beach coordinator position available with the Parks & Recreation Department. 

 

Nickel Beach is located on Lake Erie at the southern end of Welland Street at Lake Street, close to the down town Port Colborne.  Nature lovers enjoy exploring the sand dune formations, Carolinian Forest and home to the Fowler Toad, a protected species.  The public beach contains more than 2 km of white sands, shady picnic spots, washrooms, swimming and open areas for recreational activities such as beach volleyball or beach soccer. 

 

Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator & Supervisor of Nickel Beach, you will ensure the customer experience at the beach including cash control, general upkeep of the beach/park property amenities and facilities and supervision and scheduling of the summer staff. 

 

You have a secondary school diploma, post-secondary education in Parks and Recreation or equivalent preferred.  You have a minimum of two years supervisory experience in customer service, preferably within a parks & recreation municipal setting, beach front experience is an asset. 

 

This position is a seasonal position with an expected start date of May 4th until September 18th working 35 hours per week with a rate of pay of $17.75.  A complete job description can be found at www.portcolborne.ca
