DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE SERVICES/CITY TREASURER

Due to an upcoming retirement, the City of Port Colborne is seeking an energetic and motivated professional with superior leadership, communication, analytical, report writing, customer service skills, and political intuition, who works well in a fast-paced environment and can help drive the corporation forward in accomplishing the goals and strategic direction set by Council.  

 

The Director of Corporate Services/City Treasurer is responsible for ensuring the financial well-being of the Corporation through budgeting, debt control and provides financial investment and policy advice to the CAO and Council while discharging the official duties as defined under the Municipal Act. 

 

You are a director or senior manager in a municipality with a minimum of fifteen years of progressive business experience and experience managing with progressive and visionary leadership in a unionized environment.  You have the highest level of ethics, values and integrity and will bring exemplary interpersonal, communications, relationship building and creative strategies to the position. Proven success in working with elected officials, other levels of government and a broad range of stakeholders is essential. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director is responsible for all aspects of Finance and Legislative Services.  Your university degree in Business Administration, Public Administration and designation as a Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), AMCTO and OMTRA or equivalent make you an ideal candidate for this position.

WATER-WASTEWATER OPERATOR

The City of Port Colborne is seeking energetic and motivated candidates who would like to help drive the corporation forward in accomplishing the goals and strategic direction set by Council. If you enjoy working with the public, consider joining our team.   

 

As a fully licensed Water Distribution-Wastewater Collection System Operator, you will perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: operation of equipment and attachments, locates, collection and analysis of established water quality tests, collection of water samples for lab analysis, participation in the Water on-call rotation and response to afterhours/weekend emergencies. You will be required to safely drive and operate heavy equipment with attachments and perform strenuous, physical labour in the installation, repair and maintenance of the water distribution and/or wastewater collection systems, assist with reports and documentation. 

 

You are required to have a Ministry of Environment Certification in Water Distribution & Wastewater Collection Class 2, a DZ license, superior judgement, interpersonal skills, valid and current Basic First Aid, CPR and secondary school diploma, or equivalent.  You are required to have a minimum of one-year experience working with municipal water/wastewater services, working with equipment and performing maintenance related duties; or equivalent. (at a minimum you have a Ministry of Environment Certification in Water Distribution & Wastewater Collection Class 1 and the intent to obtain your Class 2 certification) 

 

This is a full time union position based on 40 hours per week with a hourly rate of $29.19 per hour and a competitive benefit and pension package. 

 

Requirement to be on-call is for a week at a time and approximately every six weeks.  Compensation when on-call is 3 hours per day and 3.5 hours on weekends at hourly rate of pay.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE/CASHIER

We are looking for a motivated, talented individual who shares our high standard for customer service and a common desire to provide exceptional service as a first point of contact at the front counter and by phone.   

 

The Customer Service Representative/Cashier will deliver a broad range of customer service deliverables.  Responsibilities include assisting customers with enquiries, receiving, recording payments to accounts, issuing tax certificates, assisting in tax and water collections, payment arrangements, processing parking ticket payments, arrears letters, performing account receivable invoicing and provide administrative office support to Corporate Services.  This position is also the back up for the Accounts Receivable functions.   

 

To be considered for this opportunity you will have demonstrated experience in a customer service role preferably in a municipality or customer focused environment.  You possess proficiency in the operation, and use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), accounting software, databases and the internet. The successful candidate will also have excellent organizational, interpersonal, cash handling and customer service skills.  Additionally, you will have the ability to deal courteously and effectively with the general public and staff in a fast paced, high volume environment while putting the customer first. 

 

You are a graduate from a post secondary institution in finance, accounting, hospitality or other related education with a minimum of one-year experience working in customer service, accounting, cash, collections or an equivalent combination.

 

Hourly rate: $25.10 per hour for 35 hours per week ($45,676.20 annual) plus a competitive benefits and pension package.

PRO SHOP ATTENDANT

PART TIME POSITION – Maximum 20 hours per week

(Weekdays; Weekends; Day and Evening Shifts)

 

The City of Port Colborne is currently recruiting for a part time Pro Shop Attendant to work at the Vale Health & Wellness Centre.

 

Our Pro Shop Attendant will provide positive service and sales to all prospective customers in a friendly and timely manner in a clean and organized environment. 

 

Our ideal candidate can demonstrate:

·         Strong hockey and or skating knowledge

·         Strong skate sharpening skills

·         One year retail, customer service or sales experience

·         Willing to and ability to work flexible hours (evening/weekends)

·         Cash handling experience

·         Neat appearance with a professional and positive attitude

·         Great communication skills

·         Through, attention to detail, organized, and punctual. 

 

A vulnerable police background check will be required.

 

Wage:  Minimum wage
