Come join our Team. The City of Port Colborne is currently recruiting for an Events Assistant/Volunteer Coordinator within our Community and Economic Development Department.
The Event Assistant/Volunteer Coordinator will assist with the coordination of community event services. This will include assisting with the management of event facilities, logistics, equipment, event monitoring while acting as a resource to the public and staff. This position is also responsible for coordinating and supporting the City’s volunteers. This includes maintaining a volunteer database, in addition to the recruitment, training, scheduling and recognition of volunteers. The preferred candidate will have a university degree in event, recreation or sport management, with five years of experience in major festivals, events and volunteer management. At a minimum, the candidate should have a two-year college diploma in event planning or volunteer management, with three years of experience in a majority of the following areas: event, recreation, volunteer, sport management and program development. The successful candidate will have experience with major festivals and events, strong communication, networking, project management, research, planning, reporting and computer skills. You will have a sound understanding of policies, procedures and protocols as they relate to festivals, events and volunteers.

Library Assistant III
Port Colborne Public Library
Part Time – 4 – 15 hours per week
The Port Colborne Public Library is currently seeking a customer service oriented individual to work 4 to 15 hours per week shelving library materials, assisting the public while working on the circulation
desk and helping staff with programming. Work requires attention to detail. This is a part time position and requires the successful candidate to work evenings, weekdays and Saturdays.
The successful candidate with have an O.S.S.D., previous experience working with the public, a strong knowledge of computers and the internet, cash handling experience and use of a cash register. The successful candidate will be required to submit a clear vulnerable sector police clearance.
This is a unionized permanent part time position with a pay rate of $18.61 per hour (April 1, 2018).

Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum
Part Time – 20 hours per week (approx.), April to December
The Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum is current seeking a task oriented individual who will manage all maintenance and cleaning duties throughout the museum property. You ensure good repair of heritage buildings, maintain grounds, gardens and equipment. You are willing to work weekends during special events.
The successful candidate will have an OSSD., two years’ previous work experience as a custodian and experience working with the public.
This is a seasonal part time position with a pay rate of $15.08 per hour.
